Wedding gods must really exist, and they were looking down on Rachel and Matt as they prepared to marry one another. As the girls got ready, Adelaide put on a typical spring day – grey skies, rain and gusts of wind. They huddled under the verandah waiting to take photos in the courtyard, but puddles and downpours kept us inside for most of the afternoon.
But by the time the ceremony rolled around, things had changed… As the bridal party travelled to Glen Ewin Estate, in the Adelaide Hills, the clouds parted and the rays of sunshine did their best to dry the lawn before Rach walked down the aisle. The drizzle had all but disappeared and nothing could damped the mood of a very personal, and at times hilarious ceremony between two very deserving individuals.
As much as I hate 1am flights and cold weather, it is always great to come back to Adelaide and be part of a day such as this – to have a place card on a table, dance with the bride, and be thanked in the speeches! Weddings for friends are a special kind.
